When modern nurse educators embrace and author open education resources (OER), traditional textbooks can be transformed into engaging, active learning materials. Most nursing education texts are content heavy which many students do not read. However, a concise online text can deepen students’ learning through imbedded engaging activities. This presentation describes how faculty utilized an innovative technique to create a dynamic “living” text which can be updated continuously with new knowledge as it emerges. Through course evaluations over 4 years, students report that the interactive online text is a great asset to learning and a concise, easy-to-use text. Students also appreciate the no-cost feature and state that the videos and faculty narrations are enjoyable. The award-winning text is utilized by faculty and students around the world.
