Executive Director
Colorado Nurses Association
Fort Collins, Colorado
Mark Longshore has worked in healthcare since high school and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with his BSN in 1995. He has worked on the cardiothoracic surgery unit and emergency department first in Cincinnati then in Colorado. Realizing education was the best part of his job, he began teaching nursing students at Front Range Community College, eventually going on to be the director of that program. Since earning his PhD in Nursing Education, he has been teaching at the undergraduate and graduate nursing level at the University of Northern Colorado. Graduate education opened his eyes to the many issues in healthcare and the important role all nurses - not just those with graduate degrees - play in advocating for policy change to increase safety, quality, and access to care. That mission drives him in his role with the Colorado Nurses Association and continued role of teaching current and future nurses.
