Sara Guarneri is an Associate Professor and serves as the Dean of Nursing at the Ivy Tech Community College campus in Sellersburg, Indiana. With over fourteen years of experience as a registered nurse, she made her start in the nursing profession working as a bedside nurse in medical-surgical and progressive care units. Sara began her career as a nurse educator, taking on the roles of a clinical instructor and tutor for nursing students. These early experiences provided her with invaluable insights that continue to benefit her throughout her career.
For the past nine years, she has been dedicated to nursing education, spending the last five years in her current role as Dean. In this capacity, Sara oversees a team of nursing faculty, teaching assistants, clinical instructors, and simulation technicians serving a population of associate degree and practical nursing students. Sara is a passionate advocate for creating a positive and supportive experience for both students and faculty, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.
Sara is a member of the Indiana Center for Nursing Board of Directors and the Indiana State Nurses Association. Sara earned her baccaleurate degree from University of Louisville and her MSN in Nursing Education from Walden University. She achieved certification as a nurse educator in 2019 and is planning to pursue a doctoral degree in nursing starting in 2025 at Arkansas State University.
