Dr. Andrea’ Bowden-Evans is the Associate Dean of Health Services at Shelton State Community College. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice focused on administration from Samford University, a master’s degree in nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from The University of Alabama.
With over 32 years of academic experience, Dr. Bowden-Evans has played a pivotal role as an instructor and now as an administrator. Her teaching portfolio includes practical nursing, associate degree nursing, and nursing assistant programs. Beyond academia, her clinical experience as a nurse practitioner spans family practice, women’s health, and hospice care.
Dr. Bowden-Evans is deeply committed to serving underserved and underrepresented populations in nursing education and her healthcare practice. She is also passionate about empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, the West Alabama Black Nurses’ Association, and the Alabama Organization for Nursing Leadership.
