Mindy Hanna is an accomplished Associate Professor at Ivy Tech Community College, where she has dedicated over 12 years to nursing education, building on her extensive experience of more than 17 years in labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Indiana University Southeast in 2005 and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Southern Indiana in 2013. Mindy’s commitment to excellence in teaching has been recognized with the prestigious McClure Award.
Mindy's teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is a dynamic and collaborative process. She fosters an inclusive, interactive, and student-centered environment that acknowledges diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Utilizing active learning strategies, Mindy engages her students through group discussions, case studies, simulations, and hands-on activities, enhancing their critical thinking and application of theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Outside of her professional commitments, Mindy enjoys outdoor activities, barrel racing on her horses, and spending time with animals. This year, she has completed three half marathons and climbed three Colorado 14,000-foot mountains, with her first full marathon scheduled for November. Additionally, her husband is a team roper, which adds to their shared passion for equestrian sports. Mindy is passionate about empowering her students to become lifelong learners equipped with the critical thinking skills and adaptability necessary for thriving in the modern healthcare environment.
