Dr. Betty Key serves as the Director of Nursing Programs at Shelton State Community College. She earned both her Doctor of Education with a specialization in Nurse Education and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama. Dr. Key also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama and an Associate Degree in Nursing along with a Practical Nurse Certificate from Shelton State Community College.
With over 25 years of experience as a critical care nurse, Dr. Key transitioned to academia, bringing a wealth of practical knowledge to her teaching. Her research focuses on health promotion education in underserved communities and innovative teaching and learning strategies in nursing education. Dr. Key has authored several publications and continues to contribute to research as a consultant.
